2024 Ayr Farmers Mutual Scholarship Program Recipients
In late December, Ayr Farmers Mutual Insurance Company proudly awarded $26,000 in scholarships to post-secondary students.
As part of the AFM Scholarship Program, children of policyholders were invited to apply by answering the following question:
“Volunteering is an integral part of Ayr Farmers Mutual’s commitment to the communities it serves. There are many organizations in need, and we want to consider where AFM can make the most impact. AFM’s company values are relationships, teamwork, integrity, enthusiasm, communication and stewardship. Describe two of three opportunities that AFM employees could volunteer for in our local communities. Include which AFM value(s) the organization best aligns with and your thoughts on the anticipated impact.”
We received a record-setting 46 applications! On December 19, the top-rated applicants were invited to the AFM office in Ayr for a cheque presentation event.
In line with the students’ recommendations and AFM’s core values, our team dedicated their time addressing local food insecurity initiatives. This included a CANstruction Build for A Cause day, in support of the Cambridge Food Bank, where ten scholarship recipients were invited to judge our creations. All food items used during this event were donated to the Food Bank. In addition, our team participated in two volunteer opportunities with Food4Kids, and we donated to Community Support Connections’ Meals on Wheels Program.
